There are so many diets out right now that it is almost impossible to keep up with them. One of the newer ones involves being on a diet only a few days out of the week (usually three or five). These weight loss days are intended to keep your overall calorie content down, enabling you to eat more on the other days. Instead of eating healthy on your “off” days, however, you will probably pig out to compensate for the previous day’s starvation.

Weight loss days can work for some people, especially those with incredible will power and the time that it takes to prepare particular meals for particular days, but for the rest of us, weight loss days can be a bit of a hassle. Also, few of us have such structured lives that we know when and where we will eat on a certain day of the week.

The theory behind this kind of diet is that by averaging out your caloric intake over a week, by taking in fewer calories for a few days, you will take in less. In theory, that is true, but like most diet solutions, it will only work as long as you are on it. It certainly is no way to train your body to permanently choose better food and less of it.

Whether you go on this kind of a diet or any other one, you have to remember that the changes you make in the short-term should be fully transferrable to a lifelong lifestyle change for you and your family. If you can eat healthy three days a week, why not eat healthy seven days a week? Change your diet, your lifestyle, and increase your overall activity level and you will see a weight loss that lasts a lifetime.
