Is Fasting for Weight Loss a Good Idea?
Almost one out of every four American women are on a diet at any given time, which is a sad statement. So many of us are unhappy with our body that we are constantly trying (and failing) to lose weight. Because there are so many diets out there from which to choose, you would think that more of us would be successful, but that is no the case.
More and more people are turning to fasting for weight loss as a way to kick start their dieting program and it seems to work for some people. Of course it takes quite a bit of will power and you may also need a little flexibility in your lifestyle in order to do it. If you are a parent and have to feed everyone else in your family, fasting for weight loss can be a difficult thing to do when you are surrounded by food all the time!
In general, long-term fasting for weight loss is not a healthy thing to do for most people, which seems like a pretty obvious statement. However, studies have shown that there is no harm to be done in short fasting, usually a day or so, in order to flush toxins out of the body and give your entire system a fresh start. There are supplements that you can buy that will make the fast easier on your system, and you may find that you actually feel much better when you have done it.
You may choose to fast for very short-term weight loss of just a few pounds, but if you are looking for long-term and safe weight loss, it is obvious that the best way is a sensible approach. By changing your eating habits and adding more activity to your life, you will be well on your way to a better and healthier body.
