Why Can’t I Lose Weight?
If there is one question that more and more people are asking themselves more and more these days it is, “Why can’t I lose weight?” We all try to watch our diet and work out a little, but when it comes down to getting on the scale, we are always a little surprised that we aren’t losing weight. Why is that?
Well, the truth is that most of us eat way more than we should. If you actually stopped to count your daily calories, you would be astounded. What used to be the largest portions in a fast-food restaurant twenty years ago are now considered to be kid’s size. A small meal at any fast-food restaurant, in fact, is probably as many calories as you should eat in an entire day, not to mention way more fat and salt than any human should ever eat.
If you are truly wondering, “Why can’t I lose weight?” then you need to be real about what you are doing. Not only should you take a closer look at your diet, but you also have to look at your activity level. Again, looking back fifty or even one hundred years, people walked everywhere, kids played outside, and no one sat around playing video games! There has been a substantial difference in our lifestyle over the past century and our bodies are paying the price.
Finally, there is a need by most people to lose weight quickly, usually for some event that they have coming up. This type of fast weight loss can be dangerous and rarely lasts. By taking care of yourself now, you won’t have to lose weight in a hurry. If you can, you are far better off making long-term, permanent changes to your lifestyle in order to accomplish permanent and healthy weight loss that lasts a life time.
